Disappointment in the now requires faith in the new. This poetic journey requires a few layers of clothing.

ALASKAN SUMMER DAYS
By
Blaine Campbell
We bare the cold Alaskan summer days
In matching coats we grab a hold and face the arctic waves
The snow began to fall inauguration day
They tipped their hats, put up a wall, and built an empty space
So in my evening attire (Cold as the Alaskan snow)
I’ll warm myself by the fire (You should know, you should know)
And drink a toast to something new.
Love tells you that you’re wrong at the right time
But this snow storm that you construed
Will isolate you as you reach for a good life
It’s a slippery drive through the ice.
A waking truth is that I’d rather hibernate
While showmen show the men inside
The shaman oscillates
So in my evening attire (Cold as the Alaskan snow)
I’ll warm myself by the fire (You should know, you should know)
And drink a toast to something new.
‘Cause we’re the new people
We’re the new people
We’re the new people
We’re the new people.
